Alex & Kelly Canote

Lead Pastor

Alex Canote is the  Pastor at Faith. Born and raised in Harrisburg, Missouri, he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age. Being a "Pastor's Kid", he was raised in ministry at his dad's church in Clark, MO. Alex began attending Faith in 2012 with his (then girlfriend) Kelly. After getting married, he and his wife Kelly joined Faith as members in 2014. After some time, Alex then began serving in the teen ministry as the Youth Pastor and saw God do amazing things in the lives of young people in the 4 years that he served. As time went on, God led Alex to join the worship team at Faith as well as the leadership team at Faith. Alex has been faithfully serving in that capacity alongside his wife and their 3 children (Anderson, Miller, and Nora) for the last 4 years. Alex was called to ministry in December of this past year and is excited for the direction and vision that God has given him for Faith.

Statement of Faith

GOD:

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deut. 6:4; John 14:10, 26.

JESUS CHRIST:

We believe in the deity and humanity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present rule as Head of the Church and in His personal return in power and glory. Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19-21; Gal. 4:4-5; Phil. 2:5-8 Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24- 25; 1 Pet. 2:24; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5 Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1- 2.

THE HOLY SPIRIT:

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe the Holy Spirit assists Christians in understanding spiritual truth and gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25.

THE BIBLE:

The Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God and is the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to man. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5.

HUMAN BEINGS:

We believe that God created human beings in the image and likeness of God. By Adam’s sin, human beings fell from their sinless state, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God. Human beings are, of themselves, utterly unable to remedy their lost condition. Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 53:6a; Isaiah 59:1, 2; Rom. 3:22-23; 5:12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-19.

SALVATION:

We believe that salvation is God’s free gift. We believe that we are saved by grace through faith in the finished work of redemption achieved by Christ through His death, burial and resurrection. Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1.

ETERNITY:

We believe that human beings were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8: 17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9.

ETERNAL SECURITY:

We believe that all those who die in God’s grace through faith are assured eternal salvation. Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ and because salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, we cannot “lose” our salvation. John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5.

CREATION:

We believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. Genesis. 1-2; Exodus 20:11.

HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS AND IDENTITY:

We believe that marriage is the exclusive, covenant relationship between one man and one woman and that God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman joined in marriage. We believe that marriage is symbolic of the mysterious union between Christ and the church. We also believe that God creates each person with an immutable biological sex—male or female—and that these two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. Gen.1:26-27; Gen 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13 Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1: 26-29; I Cor. 5:1; 6:9; Ephesians 5:23-32; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4.

DIGNITY AND LOVE:

We believe that God endows all human life with inherent dignity at every stage of development and that human life should be respected from conception to natural death. Further, because we are created in the image of God, we believe that every person must be afforded compassion, kindness and respect. We also believe that the greatest commandments are (1) to love God and (2) to love our neighbors as ourselves. Therefore, we believe that we should demonstrate love toward all people. Job 3:16: Ps. 51:5; Ps. 139:14-16; Matthew 22:36-40; Mark 12:28-31; Luke 1:44; Luke 6:31.

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST:

We believe in that blessed hope, the personal, imminent return of Christ Who will rapture His church. We believe in a seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel. Ps. 89:3-4; Dan. 2:31-45; Zech. 14:4-11; 1Thess. 1:10, 4:13-18; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16, 20:1-6.

STATEMENT OF BIBLICAL AUTHORITY:

This statement of faith is not a complete or final explanation of our faith. Rather, it is a summary of our core beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning faith and life, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the Senior Pastor and Deacons are this church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
